 ANCESTORS :
THE  FAMILY  TREE

16th Century Poland

THE BEGINNING
... a seedling of a noble oak-tree puts down roots on the Eastern Frontier ...

1546 - The forefather :

LUKASZ, a Polish knight of the "Pobóg" coat of arms, a courtier in the Kings castle Wawel in Cracow.

At the beginning of year 1546, Polish king Zygmunt II August bestowed on a 26 year old knight Lukasz (Lukash), his courtier in the Wawel castle in Cracow, a land property on the Eastern Frontier of the Kingdom of Poland. The estate was on crown lands in the woodlands of the Grand Duchy of Litva and was called Ryma. The word Ryma comes from the local Slavic language - it is as a feminine given name.

1610 - The progenitor :

GREGORY of  RYMA on the Eastern Frontier, son of Lukasz, the first  RYMASZEWSKI.

By the end of 16th century, Gregory (Grzegorz) was the actual landlord of Ryma, who run their estate with his elderly father Lukash, the last surviving member of the Zaglobczyk knightly family.

At those times, modern formal surnames of Polish nobility that originated from the knighthood, were being established. Gregory adopted the surname Rymaszewski after their estate Ryma and became the first ancestor of our family.

Polish king Zygmunt III Waza confirmed by royal deed dated 6 July 1610, the establishment of Rymaszewski noble surname bearing the Zaglobczyk's knightly coat of arms "Pobóg", as well as family's perpetual land patent (ownership) of Ryma estate.

NIESWIEZ (NESVIZH) - BOBOWNIA area
RYMASZEWSKI FAMILY BRANCH

In the National Historical Archives of Belarus (NIAB) in Minsk is a matter (dated 1846) regarding "Birth Records of Rymaszewski family".

Possible genealogy of Rymaszewski family based on birth records of Nesvizh (Nieswiez) and Bobownia Roman - Catholic churches.

The church in Bobownia was later closed after the rebellion of 1863 (i.e. Polish January Uprising 1863 -1864).
(Case No. 13564 - Abolishing Svoyatyche and Bobownia Roman - Catholic churches in 1866 -1869 r.)

The following is according to data taken (in 1846) from Parish books of Nesvizh (Nieswiez) and Bobownia churches - part of birth certificates were in Latin alphabet (i.e. in Polish) and part of birth certificates were in Uniate alphabet (i.e. in Cyrillic - or in Russian)

The chart below was drawn using information sent by Zbigniew Wolocznik see Email No. 189

RYMASZEWSKI FAMILY  TREE  JIGSAW  PUZZLE PIECES
There are many loose "jigsaw pieces" yet to find some place, where marked (?) on the tree diagrams above, starting from generations 7, 8 and 9.
Below are some examples of such old records in Chapter 12/2 :

1854 record and 1866 record

1888 record

A family of Rymaszewski lived in Oszmiana district, in the year 1864, and owned an estate called Jatolowicze, which included a village named Rodziewicze.

1757 record - 16th -17th century

IT  FITS !!!
This "jigsaw piece" fits in one place only — judging by the date 1672 and the names of father and son.

JAKÓB lived in the 4th generation of Gregory's descendants. He was the son of GR.12 : TOMASZ. Jakób's ID number should be GR.122   He must be the brother of MIKOLAJ GR.121 This also demonstrates the usefulness of my Genetic Sequence Method allowing to identify people and their relationship (especially with similar names)

1747-1811 records

  • JAN Rymaszewski, was a steward of Duchy of Nieswiez in the year 1747.
  • JAN Rymaszewski, was a steward Olycki (of town Olyce) from 1754 to 1765.
